Men’s tops

The sizes shown below are for the maximum size. For example, if you have a 95cm chest, you would be a size M. If you have a 100cm chest, it will be tight on size L on a regular-fit jersey and extremely tight for a race-fit jersey.

Men’s gloves

The size of the gloves is determined by the circumference of your hand, as illustrated in the table above. Gloves ought to have a snug fit. If you notice that the palm area of the glove is loose when you’re in a cycling position, you’ll likely need a smaller size.

To put on or remove the gloves, use the pull tags provided. If there are no pull tabs, remove the gloves by rolling them off so they turn inside out.

Factors affecting Castelli sizing

  • Purpose and fit. Each Castelli jersey is designed with a specific cycling discipline and riding scenario in mind, directly impacting its fit. For example, the Castelli Aero Race jersey is cut to hug the body closely, optimizing aerodynamic efficiency. In contrast, the Castelli Prologo jersey, ideal for endurance or leisure riding, offers a more relaxed fit to ensure long-distance comfort.
  • Race vs. regular-fit. The race-fit garments are designed to stretch and fit snugly against the body, eliminating ripples and enhancing aerodynamics. If you’re drawn to the style of race jerseys but prefer a more relaxed fit, you might need to choose a size up. On the other hand, regular-fit garments align more with your regular T-shirt size, providing a looser fit that’s perfect for comfort-oriented, long training rides.
  • Fabric type and stretchability. Certain fabrics offer more stretch, allowing for a tighter fit, while less elastic materials may require a size up to ensure comfort. For example, the Velocity Rev2 fabric, commonly found in many of Castelli’s jerseys is known for its exceptional elasticity, which allows the jersey to stretch and fit snugly against the body. On the other hand, materials such as GORE-TEX® or Polartec® used in Castelli’s jackets are less stretchy, but known for their exceptional for its waterproof and windproof properties.
  • Layering considerations. If your cycling routine involves wearing base layers or arm warmers under your jersey, particularly in colder weather, a larger jersey might be necessary to accommodate these extra layers comfortably. Consider going a size or two up for less stretchy materials, especially if you plan on layering them over other garments.
  • Body shape variations. Despite having accurate body measurements, individual body shapes can influence how a jersey fits. Depending on your body shape and the jersey’s fit, you might need to opt for a size up or down.

How to determine the right Castelli sizing

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you choose the right Castelli clothing size.

Step 1. Gather Your Measurements. Castelli provides sizing charts that match body measurements to their clothing sizes. It’s vital to compare your measurements to this size chart. Remember, you might need different sizes for different garments due to variations in design, intended use, and fabric stretch (more below).

Step 2. Read the product description carefully. Look closely at the product description, which usually provides valuable insights into the clothing’s intended use. Clothing designed for racing or time trials will be more aerodynamically shaped and likely fit tighter than gear designed for leisure or endurance rides.

Step 3. Decode the naming conventions. Castelli uses specific terms to indicate the type of fit. For example, the Aero Race jersey has a tight, aerodynamic fit, while the Prologo jersey is for comfort with a more relaxed fit. Understanding these naming conventions can give you a better idea of what to expect from each garment.

Example phrases and keywords

  • Aero and tight fit. Aero, efficiency, fast, performance, race, speed, tight
  • Regular fit. All-around, all-day, comfort, endurance, regular, training

Consider sizing up for aero and tight-fitting clothing.

Step 4. Seek personal advice. If you’re still unsure, don’t hesitate to ask for advice, especially if you’re buying from a physical store or an online platform with customer support. Share your measurements, riding style, and preferences with experienced staff or customer service. Their insights can help ensure you choose the right fit for your needs.
