The term MAMIL (Middle Aged Man in Lycra) was coined around 2007 and gained popularity in the UK after the success of British Cycling in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. It was included in the Oxford Dictionary in 2014 where the official definition of MAMIL is,

“A middle-aged man who is a very keen road cyclist, typically one who rides an expensive bike and wears the type of clothing associated with professional cyclists”.

Oxford Dictionary, 2014

That accurately sums up what this website is about.

Mr MAMIL is now in his late thirties and rediscovered his passion for cycling in his late twenties. The combination of a corporate job, unhealthy diet, and sedentary lifestyle has seen his health deteriorate. It was here when he decided to reconnect with one of his favorite past times when he was a kid – cycling.

At Mr MAMIL, I write about my experience and learnings and review some of the gear I use.
