The Best Gran Fondos in Belgium 2023

Belgium is where the best Spring Classics races take place every year. Most Belgian Gran Fondos occur in March, with many on the day before the men’s race.

These events also offer support services like food and drink stations along the route and mechanical support. They have a festive atmosphere, with music, food, and other activities at the finish line.

The Belgian Gran Fondos offer a variety of distances to choose from. They are held in two regions; 

• Flanders for its cobbled roads 
• Ardennes for its rolling hills and picturesque forests

Two of the must-do Belgian Gran Fondos are;

• Ronde van Vlaanderen Cyclo, also known as We Ride Flanders takes place a day before (Saturday) the Tour of Flanders. Choose from 75, 144, 179, or 235 km. The 229km route mirrors the men’s race which is 273km long and goes over iconic bergs such as Oude Kwaremont, Paterberg, Taaienberg, and Koppenberg.
• Liege-Bastogne-Liege Challenge takes place in the Ardennes region a day before the men’s race. The route covers popular climbs such as Côte de la Roche-aux-Faucons, Côte de Saint-Nicolas, and the legendary Redoute.
